The role of a Cardiologist

As a senior doctor within the Cardiology team, you will play a key role in managing acutely unwell patients, supervising and supporting junior doctors and advanced clinical practitioners, and coordinating patient flow within the department, working closely with the Consultant Cardiologist of the Week.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum of 4 years of postgraduate training

  • At least 2 years’ experience in Cardiology through a specialist training programme or equivalent

  • ATLS, ALS, and EPALS (European) certification

Desirable:

  • Substantive NHS experience

  • UK accreditation in Echocardiography

  • Extensive experience in General Internal Medicine

Eligibility

Essential:

  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at the start of the post

Knowledge & Skills

Essential:

  • Competence in core clinical procedures

Desirable:

  • Understanding of UK healthcare systems, practices, and values

  • Awareness of current issues in the NHS
