The primary purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the highest quality patient care through individual responsibility, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Clinical Responsibilities:
Take responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness, ensuring the effective functioning of the department.
Provide cover for colleagues during annual leave or other authorised absences.
Participate in service development, business planning, and collaboration with other Consultants, the CMG, local GPs, and CCG commissioners.
Uphold GMC Good Medical Practice by delivering duties to the highest standard and in line with current quality initiatives.
Respond promptly to legitimate requests from Trust officers, including investigations into incidents or complaints.
Leadership, Supervision & Training:
Provide professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, in accordance with local HR policies and procedures.
Oversee and contribute to the teaching, examination, and accreditation of undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education locally and nationally.
Participate in training and development of junior staff, acting as a named supervisor where appropriate, providing guidance on clinical and career progression.
Governance, Audit & Quality Improvement:
Actively participate in medical audit, Clinical Governance processes, and quality improvement initiatives. Attendance at audit and governance meetings is mandatory.
Maintain continuing professional development (CPD) to support successful revalidation.
Undertake annual appraisal and complete all statutory and mandatory training as required.
Managerial & Organisational Responsibilities:
Contribute to departmental and Trust managerial activities, including budgetary responsibilities where appropriate, in compliance with Trust Standing Orders and Financial Instructions.
Participate in Trust Corporate and Directorate-specific induction and competency programmes appropriate to the role.
Professional Development:
Engage in continuing medical education and study leave opportunities to maintain and advance clinical skills and professional knowledge.
Qualifications & Training
Essential:
-
MB BS or equivalent
-
Full GMC registration
-
Fully accredited for Higher Specialist Training, or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of interview

MRCP/MRCS or equivalent
-
Current BLS certification
Experience
-
Fully trained in Dermatology
-
Demonstrated clinical expertise to fulfil all aspects of the Job Plan
