About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with some of today’s most advanced thin-film processing and PVD equipment. Based in Boston, you’ll work directly with customers to support high-vacuum semiconductor tools in the field, including installations, troubleshooting, and ongoing technical support. As a Field Service Engineer II, you’ll provide technical support for PVD systems, high-vacuum equipment, and associated robotics, working primarily in customer cleanroom environments. You’ll apply your knowledge of vacuum technology and semiconductor processes to diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure optimal tool performance. The role also includes on-call technical support and may require off-shift work. Full-time, on-site presence at assigned customer locations is required. What You’ll Bring Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
  • AA or BS degree in a related field preferred
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience (Field Service Engineer, Technician, or engineering-related role within semiconductor equipment or a technical environment)
Technical Expertise
  • Hands-on experience with PVD or semiconductor vacuum equipment
  • Experience with multi-chamber cluster systems and robotics (highly preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with PLCs and related software tools is a plus
Skills & Capabilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach
  • Ability to work independently following 3–6 months of training
  • Capable of determining troubleshooting roadmaps and recommending spare and consumable parts
  • Comfortable working in cleanroom environments wearing full cleanroom attire
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 25% and internationally for training
  • Ability to travel extensively within the sales territory (valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required)
  • Flexibility to work non-standard shifts when needed
  • Ability to lift up to approximately 50 lbs
  • Bilingual communication skills (Japanese/English) are a plus, but not required
